The Kerala Regional Conference of the FCI Employees Association (CITU) was successfully held today (8-2-25)at Com V P Kujan Nagar(Nalanda Auditorium), Calicut. Com A Abhijith given welcome speech . The conference was inaugurated by Comrade P. K. Mukundhan, CITU Calicut District Secretary, who strongly condemned the government's move towards direct cash transfer in place of food grain distribution. He warned that such a policy would dismantle the Food Corporation of India (FCI), leading to the dominance of private traders in food security operations.

The conference was chaired by Comrade Binoy Kumar, and the keynote address was delivered by Dr. A. Sampath, MP, and All India President of FCI Employees Association (CITU). Dr. Sampath criticized FCI’s monetization policy, highlighting its flaws. He pointed out the contradiction of FCI renting out its own godowns while facing storage shortages that force the open storage of food grains. Such a practice not only risks damaging food stocks but also tarnishes FCI’s credibility, ultimately paving the way for private entities to take control of food security operations. He firmly stated that no blame should be placed on FCI staff and laborers if food grains deteriorate under such conditions, and assured that the Association would strongly resist these anti-worker policies.
Dr. Sampath also raised concerns over staff shortages and labor issues, urging the government to address critical matters such as the protection of re-employed ex-servicemen’s pay, compassionate appointments, and other issues.
The conference received greetings from various trade union leaders, including Comrade Satish Babu K, President of the Central Government Employees Confederation, Comrade Mathew Siriyac, Secretary of Dakshin Railway Employees Union (DREU), and Comrade Mithun J of the National Federation of Postal Employees.
The conference report was presented by Comrade Gibin Varghese, and Comrade Basil Joseph, Regional Secretary, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants for making the event a resounding success.
The FCI Employees Association (CITU) extends heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected office bearers and reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the rights of FCI employees and ensuring food security for the nation.
