GENERAL SECRETARY WROTE LETTER TO FCI CHAIRMAN AND BOD MEMBERS EXPRESSING PROTEST AGAINST CADRE MERGING

Food Corporation of India Management proposed restructuring of cadres by merging Movement, General & Depot cadre in all I, II & III Categories. The Central Committee of this Association infer that the proposal is placed in consonance with the observations of McKinsey & HLC Observations, with a view to reduce the sanctioned strength of staff in FCI. Hence we vehemently oppose this proposal. Merging of Depot, movement and General Cadre will result in the downsizing of FCI staff strength.

Also, it is really shocking because the Management could silently place the said proposal in BOD without consulting the Trade Unions and asking their opinion on such proposal having a serious bearing on the working conditions of FCI Staff. This is a gross violation of the basic norm of Industrial Relations and the Central Committee of FCI Employees Association hereby lodges its protest against such violation. By stating these details FCI Employees Association (CITU) General Secretary issued a letter to FCI Chairman and BoD Members requesting to drop this proposal.

It came to our notice that like many decisions in the past, the management decided this without giving it much thought. The issue had been there for the past 10 years but nobody took a call fearing the protest from Trade Unions. Now it is learned that Considering the full support of recognized union through Wage Revision MOU dated 1-2-2019 clause No.16 management is dared to take this kind of decisions even without consulting trade unions. However, it will be difficult to implement considering the protest from other unions.
